Las nominaciones a los premios Emmy 2023 ya están aquí, y muchos observadores de premios se preguntan una cosa: ¿quién será EGOT este año? Acrónimo de Emmy, Grammy, Oscar y Tony, el EGOT es el gran premio de premios de Hollywood, y sólo un puñado de celebridades (como Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Mel Brooks y Jennifer Hudson) han figurado en la lista. Durante la temporada de premios 2022-2023, otro ícono se unió al histórico grupo: Viola Davis, quien ganó en los Grammy 2023 por narrar el audiolibro de sus memorias, 'Finding Me'.
El término EGOT fue creado por Philip Michael Thomas, actor que saltó a la fama por su papel en 'Miami Vice' y acuñó el término en 1984 pero que nunca terminó ganando ninguno de los premios. La primera persona que realmente alcanzó el estatus EGOT fue Richard Rodgers, quien obtuvo el título en 1962 después de ganar un Emmy por la música original compuesta para 'Winston Churchill: The Valiant Years'. La única persona, hasta ahora, que ha recibido EGOT dos veces es el compositor Robert López, quien hizo historia en 2018 cuando ganó los Oscar por la canción 'Recuérdame' de 'Coco', lo que significa que ganó cada uno de los premios al menos dos veces. Su esposa y socia creativa, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, ha compartido muchos de esos honores con él, pero todavía está a un Tony de distancia de su propio EGOT.
